The Skillman Foundation has a remarkable history of partnering with individuals and organizations to transform education systems, nurturing the brilliance and power of Detroit's youth. Over the years, it has granted over $730 million, becoming a vocal advocate for strengthening K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and advancing racial equity and justice.

Dave's Choice Community Development Corporation, a non-profit organization committed to empowering underrepresented youth, will utilize this grant to further its mission of providing essential mental health resources and support to Detroit's youth. The Youth Mental Health Outreach program aims to address the critical gap in access to mental health services for underserved youth in the community.

Through a combination of workshops, mentoring, community engagement activities, and performance opportunities, the program seeks to equip young individuals with the skills and support they need to overcome challenges, build resilience, and envision a brighter future.
