Dave's Choice Community Development Awarded Skillman Foundation Grant to Empower Detroit Youth

September 1- Dave's Choice Community Development Corporation is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant of $5,000 from The Skillman Foundation to support its Youth Mental Health Outreach program.
The Skillman Foundation has a remarkable history of partnering with individuals and organizations to transform education systems, nurturing the brilliance and power of Detroit's youth. Over the years, it has granted over $730 million, becoming a vocal advocate for strengthening K-12 education, afterschool programming, child-centered neighborhoods, youth and community leadership, and advancing racial equity and justice.
Dave's Choice Community Development Corporation, a non-profit organization committed to empowering underrepresented youth, will utilize this grant to further its mission of providing essential mental health resources and support to Detroit's youth. The Youth Mental Health Outreach program aims to address the critical gap in access to mental health services for underserved youth in the community.
Through a combination of workshops, mentoring, community engagement activities, and performance opportunities, the program seeks to equip young individuals with the skills and support they need to overcome challenges, build resilience, and envision a brighter future.

Provides free meals, showers and sleeping quarters for unhoused clients and those who need emergency housing as a result of eviction, foreclosure, or domestic violence.

EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER
Comprised of student ambassadors (gate keepers) who are excelling in school and demonstrating exceptional character. Student Ambassadors receive a scholarship and monthly rewards for their participation.

MY BROTHER'S KEEPER
The components of A.P.O.T.A Life Skill Building Program includes mentorship, community service, community involvement and life skills. With this program, young men and women will develop real-world abilities that will last them throughout the course of their life time.

Female Networking
"You Go Girl!" is a web-based and special events networking program that connects successful and powerful women with young ladies and women who are making a great effort in becoming emotional and financially stable, but are in serious need of guidance and mentoring.
